WSLS Roanoke, 30 Days of Hope, Tuesday, November 1 to Wednesday, November 30, 2022

Almost anyone can foster once you go through the training. You can be single, married, have kids, not have kids or be empty nesters. Linkous said it takes two to three months once you start the process. And there is a great need for fosters. As we’ve been following since May, there’s a foster care crisis in Virginia, with children having to sleep in offices, without showers or beds because there aren’t enough foster homes.

Childrens Bureau, Online Orientation, Thursday, November 17, 2022 4pm to 5pm

Children’s Bureau Foster, Foster-Adopt Online Orientation . Every year, November is recognized as National Adoption Month, which brings awareness to the thousands of children in our community awaiting permanent families. During this time, we also celebrate the families who have grown through adoption. Children’s Bureau is one of the largest private, non-profit adoption agencies in California and one of the few that is nationally accredited by the Child Welfare League of America. In Los Angeles County alone, the foster care population exceeds 33,000 children with 200 of those foster children waiting for an adoptive family.

CAP has been a part of the Heart Gallery initiative for many years and will be again throughout this November, displayed in our office on Anderson Ave. in celebration of Adoption Month in November. We will also have a Gallery Opening and Open House to show you our new space. Vermont Biz, Press Release, Friday, November 25 to Saturday, November 26, 2022 11am to 4pm

Vermont Governor Phil Scott recently proclaimed November as Adoption Month in Vermont, recognizing the importance of making sure every child has a permanent, safe, and loving family. Adoption Month is a time to: Celebrate and honor all people whose lives are touched by adoption. Focus attention on children and youth still waiting for their forever families. There are currently about 100 waiting children in Vermont. Project Family, a partnership between Lund and the Department for Children and Families (DCF), works to find permanent families for children and youth. But more families are needed, especially for youth over the age of 14. The chances of a child under eight being adopted are almost nine times greater than for one over 14. In 2021: 201 children and youth were adopted following DCF involvement. There were 81 agreements for ongoing contact between the birth parents and children. These numbers highlight the value of connection to a child’s birth family.

Right now, there are over 100 children waiting for adoption in West Texas. CBS7 and One Accord for Kids’ Heart Gallery program have teamed up to feature those children and help them find a forever home. Each Sunday on CBS7 First Alert News at 10, Matthew Alvarez will bring us the bright and shining faces who make up what’s called the Heart Gallery.In the gallery, you’ll find photos. Those photos show the face of a child who is thoughtful, caring, and kind. Behind each smile is a story. “I want my pictures to show the personality of these children,” said Ronda Ireton, a mother, Grandma, and Volunteer Photographer.

Olivia is a friendly and spunky 10-year-old girl. She enjoys cooking, playing with her dolls, painting her nails, and playing board games. She also is quite energetic and enjoys being active and playing outside at the playground. Olivia is outgoing and easily engages in conversation. Olivia has built positive relationships with her peers and caregivers. She responds well to support and praise. Olivia can get silly and is often seen joking with others. Legally freed for adoption, Olivia will benefit from a home with at least one female parent, with or without older children in the home. A family will need to have the time and patience to appropriately care for Olivia in order to best support her needs. Olivia has a relationship with her three siblings, and a family should be willing to support these relationships post-adoption.

Elijah, born May 2013, is a sweet and very shy young man. Elijah loves to play football. He likes video games and likes all the different superheroes. He specifically loves Black Panther and Iron Man. He enjoys going on trips to the waterpark, zoo, and bowling. He enjoys swimming and spending time outside. Elijah gets along with other children his age and loves to spend time with family. Elijah would love to have a forever family to love and spend time with.

The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and the State of Alabama are proud to announce a partnership that will lead to more adoptions of youth waiting in foster care. This unique public-private partnership will expand the Foundation’s signature program Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, which supports the hiring of adoption professionals to serve children at risk of aging out of foster care without a family, including teenagers, children with special needs and siblings. To date, more than 12,000 children across the United States, including 170 youth in Alabama have been adopted through the Foundation’s program.

With a name like Jazzy and and a smile that goes ear to ear, this 14-year-old girl is hard to forget. For the last four years, Jazzy has been in Texas foster care. She said her faith has helped her remain patient and hopeful during the process of finding a forever family. “I sat here in foster care and everything, going through these group homes and everything, just siting here wondering like, ‘Why is this all happening? Why is God putting me through this?'” Jazzy said. “But, really, it’s for me to grow. I learned going to church and everything that He’ll never put you through anything that He thinks you can’t overcome.”
